A couple years ago, I decided I needed an icon for LJ, so I pondered briefly (never considering a image of myself, mind you) and stacked some books on a chair at a shop where I was then teaching and could borrow a digicam. The titles selected were intended to convey some of my areas of interest, as well as books I'd recommend. The order was by size, with some minor aesthetic considerations. The original images were taken with a Sony Mavica digicam straight to JPEG on a 1.44 inch "floppy disk". The GIMP cropped and resized the best of them, and wrote this PNG.
